O Beautiful, For Spacious Skys!

It has been a very patriotic last couple of weeks! We had an incredibly festive Thanksgiving with 35 guests where we did not have enough table space to hold the glorious bounty! We all ate of paper plates with stolen forks that Charlotte procured at the neighboring gas station and many times resorted to eating strait out of the dish. As well, the week before last we had the US Mens National Soccer team visit us in Cape Town. The men played South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on Wednesday the 17th and since most of us missed the World Cup, we took it upon ourselves to get as much of the feeling as we could. The men first came and visited the Football for Hope Centre to see what we were all about as an organization and participate in some of our curriculum with kids from the township. Not only is this incredible publicity for GRS, most of the girls were overly excited to be in such close proximity to such young strapping men… that is until we realized that most of them were born in the 1990’s. Veterans of the team, such as Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan, and Carlos Bocanegra were caught up in the finals of the MLS or playing in the European Professional League, bummer. Anywho, here is a small photo montage of both the visit and the game. Such a fun experience for all involved.

I also forgot to mention that our seats were first row, on the half line. We paid 100 Rand for them which is the equivalent of $12, amazing!
